Sarasota County Fire Chief Michael Regnier has lifted the recreational burn ban.
Hot and dry conditions increase the chance of wildfires and due to that, a burn ban was put in place on April 21st of this year. Conditions were so bad in fact that governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency across the state.
With the rainy season now in place, county and city officials have lifted the threat as the chances of wildfires are down from what they have been in the recent past.
While the ban has been lifted, it’s still important to follow standard safety precautions when having recreational bonfires.
